The most popular entertainer in Las Vegas is Danny Gans. Danny’s a singer, comedian, and impressionist. His shows pack people into the twelve-hundred-seat theater that bears his name. Although most of us have never heard of him, he’s earned “Entertainer of the Year” status in Las Vegas, and his award-winning “Show of the Year” is the hottest ticket in town.
But the show-stopper is to hear Danny Gans describe himself: “I’m not the greatest singer in the world, or the funniest guy, or even the best at impressions. But put all those together with a lot of heart and drive and hard work—well, I think you’ve got something special.”
This is Howard Butt Jr. of Laity Lodge. Heart, drive, and hard work—they’re all essentials in the high calling of our daily work.
“I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God.”
Ezekiel 11:19-20
