When your child asks the hard questions—about safety, loss, or God—what do you say?
In light of the recent flooding that has affected camps along the Guadalupe River and across the Texas Hill Country, we invited camper families to a special live webinar on July 10 with trauma psychologist and disaster survivor Dr. Jamie Aten. This conversation was designed to support families—by offering practical guidance on how to ease children’s anxiety, especially in the wake of crisis.
Dr. Aten has responded to major global disasters, survived Hurricane Katrina, and co-founded Spiritual First Aid, a faith-based model to help people care for others in the aftermath of trauma. His team’s resource, Helping Children Cope with Traumatic Events, has equipped parents and caregivers around the world. Helping Children Cope with Traumatic Events in also available in Spanish.
