Plan. Partner. Develop.

The Real County Community Initiative (RCCI) invests in local leadership and catalyzing partnerships that promote health and well-being for children and families in Real County.

The Unique Challenges of Rural America

The H. E. Butt Foundation is the largest private employer in Leakey, Texas—a small town in Real County—just down Highway 83 from our property in the Frio River Canyon. The town and its outlying areas have their own way of life, with a unique pace, identity, and set of assets. Rural living can be complex in ways that are overlooked and underappreciated, and there are too few services to meet the needs of the community, including physical and mental health resources.

What we do

We provide a convening space in Leakey, Texas for nonprofits to use free of charge to collaborate, promote, and disseminate resources to families in the area. We inform the community about services available to them, and we build capacity through ongoing training and design processes. We collaborate with other nonprofits to provide leadership opportunities for the community through local workshops and leadership programs.

At various times throughout the year, our space also becomes a pop-up community service center in partnership with law enforcement, health and wellness organizations, and others.
