On November 3, we are hosting a luncheon featuring the author of a best-selling book packed with insights all of us need to hear.
The author: Arthur Brooks, a professor of management at the Harvard Business School. The book: Love Your Enemies: How Decent People Can Save America from the Culture of Contempt.
San Antonio has long been one of the nation’s leaders in economic segregation, which means that neighborhoods just a few miles from each other are in many ways worlds apart. Every week, you can read stories in the news about how even as our city grows and grows, countless families are struggling against limited opportunities to thrive. We have a lot of work to do, and the work begins with knowing our neighbors.
Brooks’ book is an invitation to do just that. We will also hear from other voices—local San Antonio leaders who are experienced bridge builders, people who have taken a chance on getting uncomfortable and developing relationships with folks whose beliefs, values, and experiences don’t seem to line up with their own. You’ll leave inspired and challenged to do the same in your own life.
