Folo Media was a nonprofit newsroom focused on the challenges of inequity and neighborhood segregation in San Antonio, Texas. The newsroom ran from the spring of 2017 through early 2018, and during that span published more than 100 stories covering a range of issues, such as: housing, education, racial segregation, non-profit solutions, and much more.
Folo was a project of the H. E. Butt Foundation, which continues to produce multimedia stories intended to shift the narrative on communities living on the margins. Many of Folo’s stories sought to explain the historical context and explore data behind local gaps in economic opportunity, and these articles continue to be used in classroom instruction and cited in studies of inequality. Folo’s archive is a valuable educational resource for anyone interested in the challenges of inequity in San Antonio and elsewhere, and it will remain available for the foreseeable future.
