H. E. Butt Foundation Supports Kerrville Museum

Last fall, the H. E. Butt Foundation and H-E-B each donated matching gifts to the Heart of the Hills Heritage Center next door to the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library in Kerrville.

“When we learned that H-E-B was celebrating the new store grand opening with a generous gift to the Heart of the Hills Heritage Center on the Campus of the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library,” David Rogers told the Kerrville Daily Times, “the H. E. Butt Foundation board of directors voted to match the company’s generosity to this project. A gift of this nature seemed like an appropriate way for us to support the Butt family history and legacy in Kerrville.”

The museum will focus on the rich culture and history of Kerr County and the surrounding Hill Country, including the areas of geology, indigenous peoples, and Kerrville’s origins as a shingle-making community in the 1840s. “A community is stronger when it knows its history,” said local historian Joe Herring, Jr.
