Laity Lodge Family Camp

A parent faced with homelessness or struggling day to day to make ends meet might not want to board a chartered bus and travel two hours to a place they’ve never seen. What exactly happens at a “Family Camp weekend”? Where will we sleep? What will we eat? Will our family fit in?

Early last summer, Cary Hendricks was telling some old friends about his work as director of Laity Lodge Family Camp. One of them, trying to be helpful, started suggesting some programming ideas—what sorts of content should be the focus of Roundup talks and devotional times.

Last fall, a woman called ahead of a weekend retreat with Laity Lodge Family Camp to say that although her family was still coming, they would be minus one. She would arrive with her kids and brother, but no longer her husband.
